Blessed Resurrection Day to all

We have had Spring Break this week, which has been great! Went to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta on Tuesday - the biggest aquarium in the world. Saw things we would never normally get to see - it was neat. And saw a beluga whale, Robbie! My favorite part was sitting in a room where the entire window was like a huge IMAX screen and you could just watch all the different kinds of fish swim around and interact. Sharks, small fish, big fish, exotic fish, etc. It was fascinating. Our God is so incredible - the intricacy of the species He has made.

That leads me to post an old hymn, both word and music by Martin Luther. May those of us who know Him truly count it a privilege.

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

A mighty fortress is our God,
A bulwark never failing;
Our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe-
His craft and and power are great, and armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

(Can't underestimate the enemy)

Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing.
Were not the right man on our side,
The man of God's own choosing.

Dost ask who that may be?
CHRIST JESUS, it is He -
LORD SABAOTH His name
from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

(Amen!)

And tho this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph thru us.
The prince of darkness grim, We tremble not for him -
His rage we can endure, For lo, his doom is sure:
One little word shall fell him.

(Yes, one day, we won't have to deal with him anymore.)

That word above all earthly pow'rs, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Thru Him who with us sideth.

Let goods and kindred go - this mortal life also -
The body they may kill
God's truth abideth still:
His kingdom is forever.

What to do

How many times have you wished you knew what to do in a given situation? "Pray that I'll have wisdom", someone will say.

In Proverbs 2 it says it is the Lord that gives wisdom, and out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

The words of His mouth are written down for us to read.

2:10 and 11 say it well - "When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee."

God does not leave us clueless. There is so much instruction, knowledge, wisdom, etc in His Word.

But it often sits on the shelf unused, not taken advantage of.

And our problems and lack of direction get worse and worse. What an irony.

I want to know what it says - what my Creator says is the best way to face life's situations. His ways are perfect. Not easy - perfect. And they bring peace in the midst of the storm.

The Way I See It

The way i see it is not always the way it is. Has that ever dawned on you? It has for me, many times.

I had a situation recently where i took away a few details and created in my mind a potential problem. A day later, i realized there was no problem and everything was fine. But boy - i can sure work up things in my mind sometimes. Fortunately i have learned over the years not to act on my perceptions quickly, because they may not be correct.

The Lord spoke to me out of the Word on this from Proverbs 3:5,6 - Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

The part - "lean not to thine own understanding" stuck out at me as I realized how foolish it is. When my eyes are fixed on Him, He takes care of it all, and He can see all, and even if there is a problem, He is in control. He will guide me in what to do, etc.

Sigh. Thank you, Lord. Again. :)
